What are the differences between the various levels of membership?
|

All members receive the same benefits no matter at which level they join.
American Hiking's various membership levels provide an opportunity to maximize
support. Members who donate $500 or more in a fiscal year become members of
American Hiking Society's Presidents Council and receive special recognition in
our Annual Report.

Why do you ask for my e-mail address and what do you do with it?
|

| |
If you share your e-mail address with us you will receive your first renewal
notification via e-mail, saving natural resources and money that can otherwise
be used to support hiking. American Hiking Society will never rent, exchange,
or sell your e-mail address.

Does American Hiking Society Lead Any Hikes that
I Can Go On?

American Hiking Society is primarily an advocacy organization. That is, we
focus on trail building and maintenance, trail funding, legislative issues that
affect hiking, and work with federal agencies such as the Bureau of Land
|

|
|
| |
Management on hiking issues. While we do not
conduct group hikes, we strongly encourage you to contact one of our Alliance
Organizations. Members of our Alliance Organizations are eligible for a
discounted American Hiking Society membership. |

What does American Hiking Society use my
membership dues for? |
|
| |
Your membership dues are used to further the
programs of American Hiking Society. This means your dues help to recruit and
organize volunteers to build and maintain trails across America, speak up for
hikers and trails in the halls of Congress and with various federal agencies,
support National Trails Day®®, and help local hiking and trail clubs with
organizational and complex land issues.

What portion of my membership dues is
tax-deductible? |
|
| |
American Hiking Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
organization, donations to which are tax-deductible to the fullest extent
allowed by law. Your membership dues are tax-deductible minus $10 for
Backpacker magazine. |
