Addressing Climate Change and Energy
Hikers are witnessing first-hand significant changes on our favorite trails, forests and rivers. These are likely to continue unless the causes are addressed. The Obama Administration and the 111th Congress have spent considerable energy discussing and attempting to address the revitalization of our ailing landscapes and economy by creating new jobs, increasing our national security by reducing dependence on foreign oil, and preserving our planet by reducing pollution that causes global warming. American Hiking is participating in that dialogue on Capitol Hill and contributing to the shaping of new legislation and policy on America’s response to climate change and energy alternatives.
We want to know what hikers think about these issues and how they are influencing hiking and the hiking experience.
Please send us an email and let us know:
- What impacts are you experiencing on the trail as a result of climate change?
- What concerns and/or recommendations do you have regarding the development of energy facilities near your favorite trail?
