THE CONSERVATION SYSTEM ALLIANCE

The Conservation System Alliance is a group of 60 recreation, conservation and cultural groups with one common goal: to promote and protect the Bureau of Land Management's National Landscape Conservation System. American Hiking Society participates in the steering committee of the Conservation System Alliance, representing the perspectives of hikers and placing special emphasis on protecting the Conservation System's thousands of miles of spectacular hiking opportunities.

Conference and Symposiums

The Conservation System Alliance holds regular conferences and symposiums to raise awareness of advanced research occurring on Conservation System lands every day.

Conferences and symposiums in the last 5 years have focused on diverse subjects, from the Antiquities Act to taking advantage of scientific resources on BLM lands. Information about upcoming conferences will be posted on www.conservationsystem.org.

Congressional Education

Members of the Conservation System Alliance work to educate Members of Congress and their staff about the unique resources and management challenges of the BLM's Conservation System. Whether it means meeting with Congressional staff in Washington, DC, or exploring management issues in person, members of the Conservation System Alliance educate Congress about the need to provide the Bureau of Land Management with adequate resources to serve as good stewards for some of the most special places in America.

The NLCS Caucus

As part of the mission of the Conservation System Alliance to raise the profile of the BLM's Conservation System, we work extensively with the NLCS Congressional Caucus. Composed of 26 Members of Congress with diverse geographic and political affiliations, this bipartisan caucus is united to promote and protect the BLM's Conservation System.
