AHS and Michelob Ultra Offer Trail Grants for Superior Trails
SILVER SPRING, MD – July 22, 2015 –With the launch of the Michelob Ultra Superior Trails grant program, American Hiking Society and Michelob Ultra have teamed up to grant two trail organizations $25,000 each to help build and maintain superior hiking trails. Each grant will help address the colossal maintenance backlogs in two of the many of our nation’s public lands that need support.
Since 1998, American Hiking Society has helped alleviate this problem by awarding over $588,000 to 192 trail projects around the country through its National Trails Fund. American Hiking Society is pleased to announce it is now accepting applications for the Michelob Ultra Superior Grant program through Tuesday, August 11, 2015. Ten finalist projects will be chosen and starting Tuesday, September 1, the public can vote on their favorite project on Michelob Ultra’s website superiortrails.michelobultra.com.
“American Hiking Society is in a unique position to lead this project because of our history in providing much needed trail grants to organizations specifically designed to support hiking trails,” explains American Hiking Society President Gregory Miller. “We are grateful to be able to team up with Michelob Ultra for this amazing opportunity to provide such large, impactful grants to trail crews. These grants will truly make trails superior and provide access that was previously limited or nonexistent. The multiplier effect is enormous.”
The Michelob Ultra Superior Trails Grant program will provide two $25,000 grants to members of the American Hiking Society’s Alliance of Hiking Organizations.
“Trail clubs who belong to our Alliance of Hiking Organizations are dedicated to American Hiking Society’s mission of promoting and protecting the places where Americans love to hike. The Michelob Ultra Superior Trails Grants provides urgently needed financial support to help them achieve this shared mission,” says Miller.
The Michelob Ultra Superior Trails Grant application period opened on July 22, 2015, and will close on August 11, 2015. Ten finalist projects will be chosen and showcased on Michelob Ultra’s website for a two month voting period. Winners will be announced November 2015.
