American Hiking Society Seeks a Temporary Document and Data Clerk

American Hiking Society is currently seeking a Temporary Document and Data Clerk for a 6-week project beginning in January 2024. The Temporary Document and Data Clerk will work approximately 8-10 hours per week with a flexible schedule between the hours of 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday – Friday EST. Candidates will work from our downtown Silver Spring office (located just one block from the Red Line station). Salary: $22/hr. DOCUMENT AND DATA CLERK

POSITION SUMMARY

The Temporary Document and Data Clerk will work on a six-week project in which they will be responsible for digitally scanning and storing historical paper documents and photographs. Once this is complete, the individual will work on data clean-up within our CRM system. The Document and Data Clerk reports to the Head of Finance and Administration.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Turn paper documents and photographs into digital copies
  • Index and store images according to organization guidelines
  • Check the quality of scanned documents to ensure accuracy and readability  
  • Update records in the CRM database to ensure accuracy which may include merging accounts, updating missing information, etc.   
  • Other duties as assigned

    QUALIFICATIONS
  • Commitment to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion a must
  • Previous document imaging experience is preferred  
  • Strong computer knowledge to include Microsoft Office, Google Documents, and use of database is preferred 
  • Tremendous attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as scanning documents
  • Ability to work well independently with minimal supervision
