Online Contests and Crowdsourcing Platforms

When you can’t be out on the trail and you find yourself surfing the web instead, you can help protect the places where you love to hike by supporting American Hiking Society through crowdsourcing platforms and online contests.

Crowdsourcing Platforms

Crowdsourcing platforms enable nonprofit organizations like American Hiking Society to obtain small amounts of money from a large number of people.  It all adds up — providing a new and exciting way for you to help save the trails.  One such platform is Google’s One Today, which is a new app that’s currently running in a pilot phase on Droids only – but if you have an iPhone or Blackberry, you can request an one_today_logoinvitation to get the app when it is available for your device.  Here is how it works.  Each person who has installed the app is able to donate $1 per day to their choice of a few projects that Google suggests; the app user can also offer to match the donations that their friends make to a certain project.  We’ve got several worthwhile projects running on Google One Today — so please install the app, keep an eye out for our projects, and “Do a Little, Change a Lot.”

Online Contests

In 2012 we entered the Chase Community Giving contest.  Thanks to loyal support from our members and friends, we received a grant for $10,000.  We’ll let you know when we enter another contest and your votes can make a difference for trails.
