Athletic Brewing Company to sponsor American Hiking Society’s National Trails Day®

Silver Spring, MD — American Hiking Society, a national nonprofit organization empowering all to enjoy, share and preserve the hiking experience, is proud to announce a $225,000 three-year partnership agreement with Athletic Brewing Company as the Premier Beer Sponsor of National Trails Day® for 2022 and 2023, and the Exclusive Beer Sponsor in 2024.

“As an active lifestyle brand, we were founded to positively impact our customers’ health, fitness and happiness, while greatly impacting our communities and environment for the better,” said Athletic Brewing founder and CEO Bill Shufelt. “Our donation program, Two For the Trails, is the embodiment of that, and is built to help cover funding gaps on projects that will provide a transformative impact on local and national communities such as American Hiking Society’s National Trails Day®. We are thrilled to support them in an even larger and ongoing capacity as an organization and initiative that completely aligns with our values of outdoors immersion and betterment for the community.”

For 30 years, American Hiking Society has hosted National Trails Day®. Taking place on the first Saturday in June, National Trails Day® is a day of public events aimed at advocacy and trail service. Through hosted events in all 50 states, thousands of hikers, bikers, rowers, horseback riders, trail clubs, federal and local agencies, land trusts, and businesses come together in partnership to advocate for, maintain, clean up, and ensure welcoming access for all to public lands and trails.

National Trails Day® 2021 saw 565 registered events across the United States, with over 36,000 participants. Nearly half of these events focused on trail stewardship, with 111 miles of trail maintained and restored thanks to volunteers and event participants.

“Since American Hiking Society’s establishment in 1976 we have improved trail access for millions of people across the US. We’ve maintained over 45,000 miles of trails through our volunteer programs, partnered with emerging leaders in our NextGen Trail Leaders program, and advocated for equitable access to and the protection of public land,” notes Kate Van Waes, Executive Director of American Hiking Society. “We simply could not do this without collaboration from corporate sponsors like Athletic Brewing Company. We are so grateful for their support and look forward to a long-lasting partnership.”
