Trip Navigation
Volunteers will work on opening the Haypress Trail toward Cudihy Lakes providing access to the heart of the Marble Mountain Wilderness. The project will involve using crosscut saws to clear trees that have fallen across the trail. There will be tread improvement and brushing to be done as well, although the work will primarily be tree clearing. By opening the Haypress Trail, we will make it easier for hikers, equestrians, and Forest Service scientists and staff to attain access to the greater network of trails in the wilderness. The first day on the trail, we will backpack to Monument Lake and make a basecamp. Hikes to work sites each day will range from approximately one to three miles. On our day off, we’ll be able to use our newly cleared trail. Likely destinations for optional hikes include Cudihy Lakes or Medicine Mountain. The project base camp may be subject to change, depending upon trail conditions.
This trip is hosted and crew led by the United Trail Maintainers of California.
