Area and Attractions

The surrounding area provides ample opportunity for the nature lover. From Horseback trails, ATV trails, hiking expeditions and fishing, the Wayne National Forest contains an area rich with the history of Ohio. In the Historic city of Shawnee alone there is much to learn regarding labor laws and how small towns helped to change them, mine subsidence and coal refuse can be found in the hills, marking the more industrious (though also more dangerous and impactful of the local flora and fauna) times that help remind us why preservation efforts are important. Tinker's Cave resides nearby, with a rich history as to it's formation and uses over the years, while historic buildings help to bring us back to simpler times, while also allowing for a more modern take through the locals that live there. Take a walk through Ohio's rich history in the more rural areas of the Buckeye State, and be sure to bring your camera, as scenic views of the hills and wildlife are sure to abound.

Accommodations Description

The crew will camp within Shawnee, OH, in the backyards of volunteers who have made land for such.
