Trail Maintenance on North Manitou Island – The work will include hiking and clearing the 35 miles of wilderness trails on the island. Volunteers will work alongside Park Service employees to use traditional tools such as axe cross cut saw, and peavey to clear and brush the trails on the island. Volunteers may be expected to backcountry camp and hike up to 10 miles per day. In addition, transportation on the off the island requires a 1 hour boat ride (this is provided for free by NPS).
