Volunteers will work on trail maintenance at the Blue Ridge Center for Environmental Stewardship. Tasks may include re-vegetation, repairing of bridges, repairing existing trails and/or making new trails as well as making trails sustainable. Volunteers may also have the opportunity to help out on organic farm. Other projects may include minor building maintenance (i.e., painting, repairing), and sprucing up of the grounds.

Area and Attractions

The Blue Ridge Center is located on 894 beautiful acres of woods, streams, a working farm, wildflower meadows, and historic farmsteads, that include apiaries, wildlife, farm animals, and 10 miles of hiking/walking trails. The Center is just miles from historic Harpers Ferry, WV and our property connects to the Appalachian Trail corridor. Nearby to the BRCES, you can enjoy white water rafting, zip lining adventures, shopping, hiking, wineries, and much more.

Accommodations Description

Volunteers will stay in the Demory-Wortman House, constructed around 1848 and nicely renovated with rustic furnishings, including a kitchen, showers, 5 bedrooms, living room, sitting room, 2 porches and a balcony. Volunteers should bring their own towels and personal gear.

Travel

Airport pickup provided from Dulles International Airport. Airport pickup and dropoff times will be sent to registrants when the trip is confirmed.
