Groton State Forest, Cross Vermont Trail

July 29, 2018 - August 4, 2018

Trip Navigation

Help build the Cross Vermont Trail – a new four season multi-use path spanning the width of Vermont. We are “connecting communities, their schools, and the natural areas in between.” The crew will build small bridges, drainage ditches, stone structures, and surface parts of the trail with gravel to make it universally accessible. Contribute to the foundation of a sustainable trail that is connecting communities across the entire state!

This trip is hosted and crew led by the Cross Vermont Trail Association.

Area and Attractions

Northern Vermont is a picture postcard landscape of small villages, side by side with rolling pastures, surrounded by forested expanses of hills, bogs, and glacial lakes. We will work in and around the 25,000a acre Groton State Forest. We will camp in state park with running water and hot showers. From the campground there is easy access to lakes with paddling and swimming, and to hiking trails with summit views. It is also a short drive to the small but culturally vibrant towns nearby (and the Ben & Jerry's ice cream factory).

Accommodations Description

Volunteers will tent camp in a state park that provides running water and hot showers. All group cooking gear is provided. Volunteers should bring their own tent, sleeping pad and bag, cup/bowl/eating utensils, and personal items.
