TRIP CANCELLED DUE TO COVID-19:   Virgin Islands National Park comprises about 70 percent of the island of St. John and is home to 30 miles of hiking trails, over 20 historic ruins sites, and some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Volunteers will spend most of the week re-routeing the Cabin Creek trail out of a drainage area. The new section is approximately 0.21 miles in length and will have to be laid by hand. If we are able to complete that section prior to weeks end, we will work on some drainage issues closer to the creek on the same trail as well as some small projects on another trail closer to the campground. Gull Rock trail in Hope, Alaska is very scenic as it parallels the Turnagain Arm of Cook Inlet (well above high tide). The trail passes through diverse vegetation: birch-aspen woods; alder-choked gullies; spruce forests; tundra with tiny spruce, mosses, and low cranberry bushes; hemlock forests with a carpet of moss.
